Knowledge Bank
1 Day Workshop

The knowledge bank is an online, on-demand repository full of legal resources.

To free up capacity and unlock the value of the institutional knowledge from within your legal function, a knowledge bank using an intranet is a value-add.

An intranet stocked with content for frequent, low-risk requests enables business units to access on-demand help with:

  • raising a service request

  • getting to know the legal team

  • frequently asked questions

  • self-service templates

  • legal guidelines for low-risk matters

  • legal standards for minimum requirements and non-negotiables

  • video tutorials to build capability for compliance

By empowering colleagues to access legal support in a low-touch, on-demand way in a time that suits them frees up time for the legal team to work on higher-risk matters.

This workshop guides attendees through the steps to set up a knowledge bank using the systems already in place.

Workshop Overview

In this one-day workshop you will be guided through the following modules.

  • Every legal team knows which department is the ‘high-user’. However, the team that demands your time the most, does not necessarily have the highest risk matters or issues to deal with.

In this initial stage of the workshop, we map out which teams use your function the most and which need more of your attention.

  • All resources need to be published somewhere accessible if they are to used and trusted as the ‘go to’ legal resource.

In this part of the workshop, we discuss where you can load and publish your resources for easy access by your colleagues.

  • Legal knowledge can be conveyed in a number of mediums. Guidelines, standards, FAQs, technical notes.

In this part of the workshop, I introduce you to the key features and benefits of the range of resources you can create.

Together, we nominate which parts of your legal services would best suit which resource.

  • You will need to spend some time to build out your legal knowledge resources. This requires a clear roadmap on what to write, what to research and what other teams you need assistance from (e.g. an in-house communications team for graphic design).

In this part of the workshop, I share my trusted wireframes (jargon for a template) that shows you how to build out your resources or craft your FAQs.

  • The final wrap up to the workshop is to guide you on how to launch and promote the resources you have effortlessly created.

A resource only helps to free up your time if it replaces you as the source of that information. This means you need to spend some time and effort with your colleagues to ‘roll out’ the new knowledge bank so they defer to that…instead of you and your team.

This part of the workshop shares my techniques plus my ‘run-sheets’ on how to run webinars, how to create informational emails and how to use the existing options inside your organisation to promote the new way of accessing your legal know-how.
