TEMPLATE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP
1-Day Workshop
Get the skills you need to create a central, standardised suite of up-to-date legal and contract templates for your organisation.
This 1-Day, expertly guided workshop is designed to help you to:
Discover how to perform a template audit to collate a master register of all templates.
Design new or updated templates in a user-friendly layout to encourage self-service by business units.
Embed guidance into templates to improve confidence for users and manage legal risk at the same time.
Train new legal personnel and business units on how to use templates.
Locate templates in a central location such as MS Teams or SharePoint sites.
Manage your template versions, review cycle and maintain your central repository long-term.
To gain true efficiency and buy-back time for legal teams to better manage legal and regulatory risk, a template register and vault is a core resource for all in-house legal teams.
With template resources in place, legal teams can improve their service offering with self-service templates that still manage legal risk effectively.

Workshop Overview
In this 1-day in person workshop you will be guided through the following modules.
-
Every legal team needs a master register of templates. Without this you risk individuals owning templates in their own drives or ‘starting from scratch’ to create a bespoke document when a valuable template exists.
In this part of the course, you learn how to fill in my pre-supplied excel spreadsheet to build out your template list.
You understand why you need to assign a use frequency to each so you can prioritise which templates you build first.
-
Your templates need to have a structure that enables your users to navigate the document with ease. Self-service templates need a simple ‘fill-in-the-blanks- layout. Templates for internal use by legal need clause options to be clear to choose from.
In this part of the course, I show you a range of layout designs of a high-performing template so you can replicate this over and over again with confidence.
-
After building the legal foundations of your template, it is essential you add a layer of guidance. This may be in form of guidance text, user notes or even video tutorials.
In this part of the course, you select the technique you want to adopt and work through exactly how to apply it.
-
A template needs to be available and on display to your organisation. Use intranets, directories and shared drives. Work with what is standard. Don’t try too hard.
In this part of the workshop, I offer guidance on how to ‘host’ your templates in a way that your stakeholders can select the best template for their needs.
-
Now you have created your template vault, updated them to a new style and have an idea of which are to be ‘self-service’ you need to tell your colleagues about them.
Legal teams have to market their ‘product’ to increase awareness and promote their use.
In this part of the course, I offer practical, actionable techniques on how to use your intranet, send emails, host business-engagement sessions to build awareness and show your colleagues how to use their new tools.
-
At the core of every successful template deployment is version control.
Without this your new template suite gets out of date, versions go awry and standards slip.
In this part of the course, you will learn how to allocate a document custodian to manage reviews, control versions and update templates to create a lasting legacy of template control.

Self Service Templates with Checklists Are a Game Changer
“Tuatahi First Fibre has continued to build on a contract creation process designed by Sian in 2020. Our staff have capability to create high-use contracts in a fraction of the time.
